The Sayre Series History

The Sayre Series’ genesis was composer/pianist Paul D. Sayre’s creation of custom materials for cultivating authentic, meaningful, well-rounded musicianship with his early-to-intermediate-level students. Sayre’s pedagogic materials increasingly were requested by a steadily growing cadre of musicians and pedagogues. Subsequently, Sayre’s materials were organized and expanded into a formal catalogue.

The Sayre Series catalogue continues to grow and now provides students and discriminating teachers a variety of musicianship materials for use in tandem with, and as companions to, the great range and variety of available instrumental methods.

“There are countless wonderful method books available for all of the standard instruments, but I struggled to find even one truly effective text for systematically building authentic musicianship with beginning- and intermediate-level students. I had to made my own.”

—Paul D. Sayre
